Ascog Hall Gardens and Victorian Fernery is a beautiful estate situated on the Isle of Bute.
Ascog Hall was built in 1844 and over the following years the surrounding gardens and fernery were created.
After several years of abandonment, the estate was purchased in the mid 1980s, and since then has been restored to its former glory. It features a stunning three-acre garden and an extraordinary Victorian fernery which houses a rare collection of sub-tropical ferns.
Many of the perennial plants and shrubs grown in the garden are of particular importance as they would be unable to thrive further inland.
Visitors can meander through the flower beds and along a series of paths and enjoy the heavily scented rose garden. There are also many exotic plants and a mixture of trees and shrubs to admire.
