    Exciting 370 hectare Country Park located in the Bathgate Hills near historic Linlithgow town. One of three Country Parks in West Lothian, sister Parks are Almondell & Calderwood and Polkemmet Country Parks.

    Nestled high in the Bathgate Hills near the historic town of Linlithgow, Beecraigs caters for a wide range of leisure and recreational activities within its 370 hectares (913 acres).  Advice, information, venison sales, gift sales, confectionary & ice creams, hot/cold refreshments and gift vouchers are available from the Visitor Centre.  There are charges for the use of some facilities and activities, all bookings can be made through the Visitor Centre.

    The Country Park offers miles of woodland paths and trails to explore, the pioneering and target archery courses are available to hire, the Sutherland Building meeting room is also available for hire (with outdoor decking & picnic tables), an adventure play area to enjoy, orienteering course (maps available to purchase from the Visitor Centre), BBQs to hire (seasonal), flyfishing on the loch (March to end November), many trails/routes on which to walk/cycle/run/ride, caravan & camping site for longer stays and a Ranger Service providing advice and a whole programme of events and activities.  There are a wide range of eateries in nearby Linlithgow from takeaways and pub grub to quality restaurants and bistros.

    At Christmas time, Beecraigs Country Park also holds its Christmas tree sales from the Visitor Centre.  Orders can be made by telephoning 01506 848943.

    The Park is open throughout the year and admission is free.  Beecraigs is the largest of West Lothian's 3 Country Parks; its sister Parks are Polkemmet Country Park near Whitburn and Almondell & Calderwood Country Park near Broxburn.

    Visitor Centre is closed 25th & 26th December and 1st & 2nd January every year. Country Park remains open. Please contact the Visitor Centre for Seasonal Opening Times (summer & winter opening).

    Road Directions

    Four car parks provide good access to all the Park's facilities.  Below are the approximate opening times of the car parks.

    Visitor Centre Car Park - 08:00 to dusk (additional car park just north of the Visitor Centre adjacent to the closed restaurant building)

    Lochside Car Park - 08:00 to dusk

    Balvormie Car Park - 09:00 to dusk

    Cockleroy Car Park - 10:00 to dusk

    Additional car  parking at Balvormie is opened as required.  Should you be bringing a bus or horse box to the Park, please ring the Visitor Centre well in advance and advice will be provided on where best to Park.

    Information boards at all main car parks assist you on your arrival.

    If you are visiting the Scottish Korean War Memorial area, parking is available at this location in a layby at the side of the road.

    Public Transport Directions

    By car:-

    From the M9 - leave at J3 if coming from east and J4 if coming from west, follow A803 into Linlithgow and then follow Beecraigs Country Park signage from Preston Road.  Please note that from Preston Road the route is steep and winding.  Follow the green & white signs for the Country Park once you are on Preston Road.

    From the M8 - leave at J3a onto A89 for Bathgate, then follow B792 towards Torphichen and follow signs for Beecraigs Country Park.

    For those of you using satellite navigation, the postal code  EH49 6PL will direct you to the Visitor Centre but we advise you to also refer to your car atlas.

    Getting there by railway:-

    From Linlithgow railway station, the Country Park is a 10 minute taxi ride. Unfortunately there are no public transport routes through the Park.

    Getting there by aeroplane:-

    From Edinburgh Airport, drive to M9 motorway, heading north and exit at junction 3 to Linlithgow. Follow signs for Beecraigs Country Park, taking you up Preston Road for approximately 2 miles. At the top of the hill road, turn left following signs for the loch and restaurant. Take your 1st right, then 1st left and you are at the Visitor Centre.
