Bellahouston Park is the location of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s House for an Art Lover, a variety of formal gardens and an impressive range of sporting facilities.
The House for an Art Lover has been realised in materials and craftsmanship as closely as possible to Mackintosh’s 1901 designs. The house is also home to the popular Art Lovers Cafe, Gallery and Shop.
The park’s horticultural highlights include the walled garden with its fine collection of ferns and daffodils collected by the 19th century plant collector Peter Bar who lived locally. There is also the sunken garden and the horseshoe garden.
The House for an Art Lover has a garden consisting of mixed shrubs and herbaceous borders with a collection of heathers and heaths.
The extensive sporting facilities include Bellahouston Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool, Glasgow Ski Centre, a cycling activity centre, two bowling greens, three play areas and an orienteering course.
