    The Birnam Arts Centre is a delightful multi-purpose arts, conferencing and entertainment venue encompassing the fantastic Foyer Cafe, Potter's Junction Gift Shop and the Beatrix Potter Exhibition, whilst producing a vibrant arts programme.

    The Birnam Arts Centre is a delightful multi-purpose arts, conferencing and entertainment venue encompassing the fantastic Foyer Cafe, Potter's Junction Gift Shop and the Beatrix Potter Exhibition. Pop in to the Foyer Cafe for breakfast, grab a delicious coffee with a selection of our homemade baking or enjoy a light lunch whilst browsing on the free WiFi. Pop upstairs to view the latest  of our monthly art exhibitions before visiting Potter's Junction to purchase a unique gift for your loved ones or yourself!

    Celebrating Beatrix Potter's many links to the local area, The Beatrix Potter Exhibition will fascinate enthusiasts whilst the vintage play area will keep young children amused for hours. Take a walk through the idyllic Beatrix Potter Garden to visit Mrs Tiggy Winkle in her house, see Jeremy fishing by his pond, watch out for  Mr Fox, and of course see if you can find Peter Rabbit himself!

    Entrance to the Beatrix Potter Exhibition is £3 per person and no more than £12 per family.

With Stand-Up Comedy, Theatre, Kids' Theatre, Informative Talks,  Opera, Classical & Traditional Music along with Jazz and the occasional Rock Band, there's sure to be something along soon to suit your tastes.  Alternatively, book yourself onto one of our many Workshops, from Silversmithing, Ceramics or Willow-weaving to Kids' Crafts or Musical Tuition, there is lots going on at The Birnam Arts Centre!

    Catering

    • Breakfast Available The Foyer Cafe serves full breakfasts between 10 AM and 12 Noon. Breakfast rolls, Beans on Toast etc are available between 10 AM and 2.30 PM
    • Cafe / Restaurant available on site The Foyer Cafe is located immediately upon entry to the Birnam Arts Centre.
    • Full Alcohol Drinks License The Foyer Cafe offers a selection of bottled beers and ciders as well as wine during cafe hours. During evening events we offer a more varied bar.
    • Gluten Free The Foyer Cafe has gluten free options for sandwiches and toasties as well as most salads we offer. We also aim to have at least one option of gluten free home baking available each day.
    • Lunch Available Lunch is served between 12 Noon and 2.30PM (3PM in Summer) on a daily basis.
    • Organic Food Where possible the cafe chef's attempt to use locally produced fruit and veg, during the summer a local co-operative group "The Field" sells produce at Birnam Arts on Tuesday mornings and this produce forms the basis of many of our soups. We can also provide organic catering for conferences.
    • Shop Potter's Junction Gift Shop, located between the Foyer Cafe and the Beatrix Potter exhibition has a wide selection of ornaments, jewelry, hats scarves and artwork as well as a wide selection of Beatrix Potter merchandise.
    • Tea & Coffee Available The Foyer Cafe serves delicious Tea and Coffee between 10AM and 4.30PM Daily. Decaf Options are available.
    • Vegetarian All our soups are vegetarian and we also have a wide selection of salads and other specials suitable for vegetarians.
    • Vegetarian Food Available All our soups are vegetarian and we also have a wide selection of salads and other specials suitable for vegetarians. We can also provide vegan alternatives for conference delegates.

    • Children Welcome Birnam Arts aims to be child friendly, the Foyer Cafe has a childrens' menu whilst the play area located within the Beatrix Potter exhibition is ideal for younger children. Our Arts Programme also puts on Kids' theatre productions and runs workshops specifically for kids during the holidays and after school in term time.

    Road Directions

    The Birnam Arts & Conference Centre is just off the main A9 Perth to Inverness trunk road. The Birnam Arts Centre houses the Beatrix Potter Exhibition which is signposted by brown “Thistle” signs from the A9.

    Approaching from the South: Birnam is 12 miles north of Perth. Follow signposts for Birnam and Dunkeld, turning right off the A9. The Birnam Arts Centre in the centre of the village – opposite the Birnam Hotel and completely unmissable!  

    Approaching From the North: Turn left off the A9 following signs for Birnam and Dunkeld, then immediately right for Birnam. The Birnam Arts Centre is approximately 600 yards further on, on the right.

    Public Transport Directions

    Birnam and Dunkeld station is two minutes walk. From the station follow signs leading you through the underpass and on down to the main road. Turn right at the main road – the Birnam Arts Centre is 100 yards further on the right.

    Bus Stops are located 1 minutes walk from the centre and are serviced locally by buses to and from Pitlochry and Aberfeldy. Birnam is also a regular stop on many coach journeys between Inverness and Glagow/Edinburgh.
