Golf Courses

Nethybridge Road, Boat Of Garten, Inverness-shire, PH24 3BQ

Designed by one of the grand-masters of golf course architecture, James Braid, "The Boat" is not only renowned as a demanding test of sporting skill but also a magnificent setting for the game.

Boat of Garten was designed by James Braid, one of golf’s famed Great Triumvirate of the early 20th Century along with Harry Vardon and J.H.Taylor. Braid was also a grand-master of golf course architecture and at “The Boat” created 18 individual holes winding their way through birch trees, heather and whins. He maximised the natural landscape to produce a beautiful and challenging course – not the longest by modern standards but it lures in the unwary.  Always superbly presented the Boat is renowned as a sporting test of skill and sets a most enjoyable challenge which only the most accurate golfer will match.

The Boat regularly features in listings of the best courses in Scotland and was recently rated as 4th in UK for courses with a green fee under £50. Dubbed “the Gleneagles of the North”, and with Nairn, Castle Stuart and Royal Dornoch all within easy reach, Boat of Garten is located just off the A9, 30 miles south of Inverness and has become firmly established as “a must” for golfers.

The Clubhouse, with its stunning views from the comfortable sun-lounge and bar, offers a warm and friendly welcome and a high standard of catering to the visitor. A well-stocked golf shop with a resident PGA Professional also serves to satisfy the golfer's every need. Two tennis courts, recently refurbished and well maintained, are available for those members and visitors looking for an alternative to golf.
