    Part of the multi-activity Brighouse Bay Holiday Park, this trekking centre offers a variety of options for horse riders of all levels aged five plus.

    Discovering this beautiful corner of Scotland's tranquil and varied scenery from the saddle is an opportunity that should not be missed, and at Brighouse Bay Trekking Centre you can enjoy a day's trekking, hacking or tuition on trustworthy native ponies from experienced and qualified staff.

    Choose from treks for the beginners, hacks for the experienced, plus walk-outs for children (parental supervision required) and slow hacks for the less experienced rider.

    The centre is approved by the TRSS (Trekking and Riding Society in Scotland) and is annually inspected to meet their high standards.

    Public Transport Directions

    Getting there by railway:- From Dumfries Railway Station take the A75 Euroroute towards Stranraer. Approximately 22 miles from Dumfries, 4 miles west of Castle Douglas, take the A711 to Kirkcudbright. In the centre of Kirkcdbright turn left onto the A755, signposted Gatehouse of Fleet, 1/2 mile. Turn left onto B727 signpost. Park is in 2 miles, behind wood on right of Brighouse Bay.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Prestwick Airport take the A77 to Ayr then onto the A713 through Dalmellington, New Galloway and Parton towards the A75 at Castle Douglas (approximately 45 miles from Ayr). Turn right onto the A75 towards Stranraer for approximately 5 miles; take the A711, signposted Kirkcudbright. In the centre of Kirkcudbright turn left onto the A755, signposted Gatehouse of Fleet, for 1/2 mile. Turn left onto B727 signposted Borgue. After four miles turn left at Brighouse Bay signpost.

    Getting there by ferry:- From Cairnryan take the A75 towards Dumfries (to get to the A75 from Cairnryan take the A77). Approximately 45 miles on, on the Gatehouse of Fleet Bypass, take the A755 towards Kirkcudbright. After approximately 4 miles Brighouse Bay Holiday Park is signposted to the right. The signs will take you all the way to the park.
