Buckpool is a raised links course just on the west side of the fishing town of Buckie on the Moray Coast.
The course's history is interesting in that it was created as a work scheme for the great number of unemployed in the 1930s. For a course of this quality some of today's multi-millionaire course designers would be shaking in their soft-spikes if such schemes were resurrected. With wind and gorse aplenty this is a challenging and satisfying venue. It was also the scene of former Open champion Paul Lawrie's first professional win back in 1986.
