Cairngorm Mountain Railway Near Aviemore

CairnGorm Mountain is Britain's 6th highest mountain and lies 9 miles from Aviemore, just off the A9 to Inverness in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.  Renowned as Scotland's premier snowsports resort for over 50 years it offers skiing and snowboarding on 30km of runs in the winter. The funicular mountain railway there enables visitors to discover the mountain all year round and in a variety of unforgettable ways....

Take the train up to the Top Station 1097m above sea level, and experience the impact of altitude on the weather, the landscape and the spectacular views. Alternatively walk up to the top and relax on the train coming down, enjoying the spectacular scenery as you descend.

You can also get out at the top for a guided walk with one of our rangers from May to October. The Walk @ The Top is a 90 minute guided walk starting from the Top Station and taking a circular route to the summit. Or take the train up and a guided walk down. Our guiding team covers fascinating topics and the walks are suitable for most abilities from family groups or novices to experts.

You can also explore the mountain at your own pace in your own time using our self-guided trails network from the car park.

Once you are at the top, enjoy lunch at the Ptarmigan Restaurant, at over 3000 ft it is the highest restaurant in the UK.

The Ptarmigan Restaurant is also available for private hire for weddings, dinners and anniversaries and has both civil and religious wedding licenses and a dedicated team to create a unique event.
