    Sheltered in a hidden bay just north of Port Askaig, is set amongst stunning scenery is now the largest malt whisky distillery on Islay.

     

    (Pronounced 'cull-eela'). Situated on the North Eastern shores of Islay, with magnificent views across the Sound of Islay to the spectacular Paps of Jura. Watch the distillers at work, tending the six copper stills.

    Caol Ila Distillery Tour £6

    This tour of the process at Caol Ila Distillery includes a dram of our 12 year old single malt, complimentary glass and a voucher for £3.00 off the purchase of 70cl single malt whisky.

    Premium Tasting £15

    Hosted by one of our passionate Caol Ila staff this tasting experience will start at the birth of our outatanding spirit leading through some of the different ages and maturation styles of our extended family range. 5 tastes, inclunding new make spirit and Caol Ila 25 year old.  We also throw in a complimentary glass and a voucher for £3.00 off the purchase of 70cl single malt whisky.

    Maturation Experience £10

    This experience examines the journey of our new make spirit through to our awrd winning 12 year old single malt whisky.  It includes a sample drawn straight from our young duty paid cask and tastes of Caol Ila Moch and Caol Ila 12 year old.  It also includes a complimentary glass and a voucher for £3.00 off the purchase of 70cl single malt whisky.

    Our tours and experiences take approximately 1 hour. Booking is advisable

    Disabled persons including those with guide dogs and other assistance dogs are welcome at our 12 distillery visitor centres.

    Public Transport Directions

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Islay Airport follow the road to port Askaig. Caol Ila Distillery is located half a mile from the signpost to the left about half a mile from Port Askaig.

    Getting there by ferry:- From Port Ellen travel north on the A846. Caol Ila Distillery is located at the end of a side road, sign posted approximately half a mile from Port Askaig. From Port Askaig travel up the steep hill and follow the sign posted side road to the right.
