Clience Studio is a friendly, welcoming gallery for you to browse or buy affordable originals, prints or other art gifts by Angela Lawrence.

Gathering inspiration from the beautiful coastal scenery of the Solway and Colvend coast, and from nearby landscapes of the Galloway Hills, Angela Lawrence paints expressive watercolour and oil images.

The gallery is open throughout the year and offers you the chance to view a large portfolio of paintings ranging from a representational style, to glimpses and impressions of landscape which are more semi-abstract. The newest series of work produced by Angela focuses on the sea close-up; it is called "Sea Spirits”, inspired by the sea in both Galloway and the Outer Hebrides. Angela received a Visual Arts Award from Creative Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway Arts council for this work.

On Mondays and Tuesdays I am open all day but may be closed between 4-5 pm, but open later, from 5 until 5.30.

Castle Douglas is off the A75 , A713 or A710

From Ayr the journey is approx. 45 minutes on the A713; from Carlisle it is approx. 90 minutes on the M74 to Dumfries and the bypass and A75 from Dumfries towards Stranraer (west)

From Glasgow via Dumfries it is approx. 110 minutes on the M74 andtaking the A701 near Moffat and the A75 from Dumfries.
From Edinburgh it is approx. 145 mins, via A708, A701 and A75 from Dumfries.
From Newcastle upon Tyne it is about 120 mins, (A69 to Carlisle and M74 via Dumfries).

From the nearest information centre:- From the Castle Douglas Tourist Information Centre coming out of the car park turn left onto the main street, going past the library which is on your left. Clience Studio is a five minute walk straight down the high street (King Street) passing the banks and shops. The gallery is on the right hand side of the road, towards the bottom of town, under the clearly visible town clock tower, on the corner of the Ayr Road and King Street. It has a blue shop front and large windows full of paintings.

Getting there by railway:- Dumfries is the nearest main railway station, which has trains running from Carlisle and the south, Lockerbie and Edinburgh, Glasgow Ayr and Prestwick. For information about trains call National Rail:08457 48490, www.thetrainline.com
