The Denny Ship Model Experiment Tank is part of the Scottish Maritime Museum, telling the story of one of Scotland's most important and innovative shipyards.
Step back into the world of the Victorian ship-designer by visiting the world's oldest working Ship Model Experiment tank, restored to working condition. Experience the Victorian technology which created the Scottish shipbuilding legend.
Built in 1882, the Denny Tank retains many original features including a water tank which measures the length of a football pitch. The tank has been fully restored to working order and is still used for testing ship designs by the universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde.
Try your hand scraping a wax ship model, or test dull designs in the small demonstration tank.
The Museum's Corner Café is open for light meals, snacks and drinks and the museum shop has a wide selection of souvenirs.
