Overview
As well as the magnificent 17th century Drumlanrig Castle, there are over 40 acres of enchanting gardens and a wide range of activities for all the family including walking, mountain biking, cycling, an adventure playground, wildlife watching, Landrover tours and ranger-led walks.Spend a day exploring the estate on foot and you can choose from short trails to more strenuous way marked paths. The numerous trails, which range from 1.5km to 7km, follow a network of paths and tracks. Or why explore the scenic cycle tracks and off-road mountain bike trails? There is a trail to suit every ability and interest from technical single-track routes, to swooping family trails through the beautiful Drumlanrig woodlands, to scenic country back roads. Bikes and trailer hire is available.
Alternatively, join one of the estate's knowledgeable rangers on a walk or Landrover tour to discover the estate's wild landscapes, diverse natural history and flora and fauna. Along the way keep a look out for otters, red squirrels and birds of prey as well as must-see trees including the Drumlanrig Sycamore - one of the oldest in the country - and the very first Douglas Fir to be planted in the UK.
