Welcome to Experience 4x4, the destination to go off road driving in Inverness. We are the 1st dedicated off road driving centre in The Highlands of Scotland and you can choose whether to bring your own 4x4 or use one of our vehicles.

Our site has 2 areas. The Adventure Course is a 2 miles specially designed off road track with obstacles (and opt-outs!) suitable from novice to expert to have fun and be amazed at the capabilities of your vehicle. The Zone is a more extreme area for those of you who wish to bring their own modified 4x4's to 'Pay and Play' (see our website www.experience4x4.com for more details on this)

We have both manual and automatic Land Rover Discoverys, all bright yellow, and a Suzuki Vitara automatic for Juniors aged 14+.

You will enjoy learning new skills and appreciate just how capable these vehicles are over the challenging terrain. Expect the unexpected and come away with a smile as you plough your way through water, manouevre the vehicle around tight bends, drive over Scotland's highest See-Saw and gently find your way down and up steep slopes. This really is suitable for all ages of driver who hold a full driving licence,from 17 to 85!

We offer guidance on our 'Introductory Adventure', the Experience to choose for those of you with no former off road driving tuition. Driving in the lead car, we will stop at the more challenging obstacles to explain how to drive them. Ladies, you are often more skilled than the men!

Priced at £60 per vehicle for up to 2 drivers for 1 lap each of The Adventure Course, this experience takes approximately 1hour 45 minutes and offers great value for money. Passengers are allowed in the back, we ask for either 1 adult or 2/3 children dependant on size. Please bring car seats if necessary. The group will be up to 5 vehicles but you will have no strangers in your car.

Our 'Freedom Package' allows those with either former off road training or more experience than a dusty track to have 2 laps of the Adventure Course without guidance. Price £90 per vehicle for up to 2 drivers, 1 lap each. Passengers as above.

Our 'Group Trail Special' allows a private group of up to 15 persons to share 2 laps of our Adventure Course. Price also £60. Similiar to the 'Introductory Adventure' in format but there will be 3 drivers per vehicle. 1 child passenger only.

We advise that any one with a bad back, or if pregnant, does not do this experience.

For those of you who would rather be driven we can offer groups of up to 12 persons a ride around the Adventure Course in our Army lorry! Price £120 per experience.

Please ask us if you would like a memory stick of your 'Experience' as this can be arranged.

* We are open by prior booking Monday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm. We can open earlier or later by arrangement. We do occasionally open on a Sunday and if so this will be posted on our website home page.

Where to find us:

10 miles south of Inverness. 5 miles east of Loch Ness.

The Bing map shows the general location but the locator is not in the correct place because it works off a general postcode. Come back onto the main road, turn right (heading south east along the loch's shoreline), and drive 1 mile to find us. For more thorough directions see below:

The best route is to take the Essich Road, off the ‘Essich’ Roundabout on the Inverness Southern Distributor Road. Signposted ‘Torbreck’. **!Please read road closure info in the box across for the next 6 weeks.

After 5 miles turn left at the crossroads, signposted 'Loch Duntelchaig', then drive exactly 1.8 miles. We are on the left. Look out for our sign on your left.

Another route is via the B862 Dores Road. Approximately 350 yards after the AntHill B&B sign, look out for a hidden junction s.p. 'Experience4x4', approx 1.5 miles north of Dores Village, and come up the twisty hill. Go straight over the crossroads s.p. Loch Duntelchaig and 'Experience4x4' and drive for 1.8miles. We are on your left.

You can come via the A9 via Inverarnie on the B851 s.p. Fort Augustus for 3 miles, turn right at the Inverarnie Stores, turn left after half a mile s.p. Dunlichity and 'Experience4x4'. Drive along this road for 5 miles (through Dunlichity) and we are on your right as you start to leave the shoreline of Loch Duntelchaig. This road has many twists and turns and is therefore slower.
