Foundation Glasgow is an exciting new exhibition at The Lighthouse in the city centre. It tells the story of Glasgow and its people from prehistory to the present day.

Centrepiece to FOUNDATION Glasgow is The Cube , a black immersive theatre, where from a platform you watch a 15 minute audio visual projected onto a floor screen to literally watch the City grow beneath your feet! The audio visual begins with the very first settlements on the River Clyde and moves to the rise of Christianity and the importance St. Mungo. It describes the growth of the City with its wealth creating Tobacco Lords and the significance of piping fresh water into the City. Continuing through time it tells the story of Glasgow's world renowned Clyde-built ships, the Clydebank Blitz and the approaching Commonwealth Games in 2014.

Learn about the people who, through the ages, have contributed to the City's growth from the Roman handmaiden Verecunda to Miss Cranston and James Watt to Sir John Glassford. This exhibition features key figures and personalities, all of whom have their stories to tell, including a young gymnast who hopes to compete in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Unique to Glasgow are our 360 degree City Panorama and aerial Flyover sequences. These are projected onto large format screens and not only show the City's famous Victorian architecture but also its latest architectural icons including the Armadillo and The Riverside Museum. The Panorama takes in views beyond the City to the Clyde estuary, the Cathkin Braes and Campsie Hills.

To help explore the City there is a scaled aerial walk-on floor map which locates places and key buildings. These buildings also feature on an accompanying architectural display.
