A 200 year old garden with interesting features, including a 100 ft Wellingtonia that dominates the main lawn.
Situated in northwest Cardoss, Geilston was developed over 200 years ago. In April, its kitchen garden blossoms, with a variety of parsnips, carrots and beetroot sprouting. Visitors can buy this produce from small stands near the garden’s entrance.
Geilston also has a walled garden, containing azaleas and heathers from around April. In summer, colour is provided by vigorous species, such as eupatorium, filipendula and helenium.
The garden is open from March - October.
Though the adjacent, late 17th century house is not open to the public, the garden is a private space that visitors are invited into. The Geilston Burn also winds its way up past the nearby woods. Follow it for woodland walks.
