Glenbarr Abbey and the MacAlister Clan Visitor Centre is situated on the Kintyre peninsula, in the west of Scotland.
Glenbarr Abbey is situated in lovely grounds with riverside and woodland walks, facilities include a museum, gift shop, teas and coffees, picnic facilities, and free parking.
The abbey itself is a glimpse of family living in an 18th century house, with period fashions, antique toys, original Spode dinner service, Sevres and Derby China collection. Other exhibits on display include family jewellery, a unique thimble collection, wonderful patchworks and gloves worn by Mary Queen of Scots. Tours around the house are conducted personally by Jeanne Macalister, Lady Glenbarr.
