    Glenbarr Abbey and the MacAlister Clan Visitor Centre is situated on the Kintyre peninsula, in the west of Scotland.

    Glenbarr Abbey is situated in lovely grounds with riverside and woodland walks, facilities include a museum, gift shop, teas and coffees, picnic facilities, and free parking.

    The abbey itself is a glimpse of family living in an 18th century house, with period fashions, antique toys, original Spode dinner service, Sevres and Derby China collection. Other exhibits on display include family jewellery, a unique thimble collection, wonderful patchworks and gloves worn by Mary Queen of Scots. Tours around the house are conducted personally by Jeanne Macalister, Lady Glenbarr.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- From Glasgow Airport right to Erskine Bridge Toll left to Tarbet left to Lochgiphead left to Tarbert continue to Glenbarr or via Portavadie, Tarbert ferry or from Ballycastle north to Campbeltown ferry.

    Getting there by ferry:- From Portavadie Tarbert 24 miles towards campbeltown Lochranza or Islay south towards Campbeltown Ballycastle north towards Glasgow.
