Glendoick

Parks & Gardens

by Perth, Perth & Kinross, PH2 7NS

Glendoick garden, garden centre, restaurant and food hall boasts a unique collection of plants collected by three generations of the Cox family from their plant-hunting expeditions in China and the Himalayas.

The garden has one of the world's finest collections of Rhododendron, Meconopsis, Kalmia and many other plants displayed in the woodland walled and house gardens. Many of the rhododendron azalea species and hybrids have been introduced from the wild or bred by the Cox family and the gardens boast a huge range of plants from as far afield as Chile, Tasmania and Tibet.

Three waterfall viewing platforms have been built in the woodland gardens. You can also take a glimpse into the fascinating world of hybridising in the walled garden where you'll find new and as yet unnamed hybrids from the Glendoick breeding programme trial beds.

The garden was included in the Independent on Sunday's exclusive survey of Europe's Top 50 gardens.

Glendoick Garden Centre, UK Garden Centre of the Year 2009-10, has a fine new shop which opened in 2011. It boasts a huge range of Glendoick plants as well as an award-winning café and food hall.

Please note that the proceeds raised from the admission price of this garden are distributed to charities chosen by the garden owner and Scotland's Garden Scheme.
