Discover what life was like for local children living in the Highlands through history at the Highland Museum of Childhood.
Set in an old Victorian railway station in Strathpeffer, the Highland Museum of Childhood has a unique and fascinating collection of artefacts relating to growing up in Highland Scotland. Featuring an award-winning film, collection of toys, dolls and costumes there is huge range and selection of things to discover.
Learn about Highland customs and folklore with a wide variety of interactive displays and hands-on activities. Explore the new exhibition about schools and learning in the Highlands. ‘A Life Learning and Teaching in the Highlands’ explores the life and work of Miss Mary Bruce, a well-loved Highland teacher. Miss Bruce was an avid collector and the museum has a wide range of fascinating records from her own and her parents' childhood as well as from her days as a teacher.
Visitors can also enjoy looking around the museum shop or have a bite to eat in the coffee shop.
