History @ Castle Kennedy Gardens

Castle Kennedy, Stranraer, Dumfries & Galloway, DG9 8SJ

Castle Kennedy, now a romantic ruin is believed to have been standing in the 14th Century however there are sadly no surviving pictures, since the Castle and virtually all its contents were destroyed by fire in 1716.

Today however this ancient scheduled monument  stands proudly on the hill in the centre of an isthmus with stunning views to the White Loch. Towering over the beautiful walled garden it creates the perfect backdrop for a picnic and for the Outdoor Theatre performances that  take place in the summer.
