Holmasaig Studio Gallery

Holmasaig Studio Gallery shows a changing exhibition of work by Harris born artist Margarita Williams D.A. and invited artists.

Margarita Williams DA is a graduate of Glasgow School of Art. She was born in Quidinish (Cuidhtinis) in Harris where she now lives and works, painting the changing light on the surrounding landscape, sea, crofting environment and wild flowers of bog and machair.

Using dyes in textile design at Art School led to her interest in the transparent medium of watercolour. Recent work includes the Japanese woodblock printing technique, Indian ink drawings and acrylic paintings on canvas. Atmospheric St Kilda Paintings and Harris mountains feature in her most recent work.

Framed/unframed paintings in a variety of sizes and mediums, Giclee prints in limited editions and cards are available to buy in the gallery.

She has exhibited her work in galleries in the Hebrides and the mainland. Her work is in many private collections in the UK, USA, Holland, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland. This is a welcoming gallery where you are invited to meet the artist at work.

Holmasaig Studio Gallery is situated just off the C79 Road in the village of Quidinish (Cuidhtinis) 4.3 miles north of Rodel, amid the unique scenery of the Bays of Harris. Seals and sometimes otters can be seen basking on the rocks in Finsbay, which the studio overlooks.
