    The Hunterian is home to the world’s largest permanent display of the work of James McNeill Whistler.

    As well as having the world’s largest permanent display of the work of Whistler, the Hunterian has the largest single holding of the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and The Mackintosh House, the reassembled interiors from his Glasgow home.

    The Hunterian also has Scotland's oldest public museum which is home to one of the largest collections outside of the National Museums.

    The Hunterian is part of the University of Glasgow and is located on the Gilmorehill campus, 3km west of Glasgow city centre.

    Getting there by subway: - Hillhead station.

    Getting there by bus: - 44 and 44A from the city centre to University Avenue.

    Getting there by car: - The University is signposted locally. Limited pay-and-display parking on University Avenue and adjoining streets on weekdays. Free parking on campus at weekends - enter main University campus via University Avenue.

    Getting there by railway:- The nearest suburban rail station is Partick, about one mile to the west of the University. It has an interchange with the underground and with bus services on Dumbarton Road.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- Glasgow International Airport is situated seven miles to the west of the Universtiy. There is an aiport bus service to the city centre.
