Kildonan Museum is located on the main road that runs through the Isle of South Uist.
Originally a school, Kildonan Museum boasts many fantastic facilities including a craft shop, an archaeology room and a room which can hold ceilidh, music and dance events.
The museum holds many rare and unique objects including the Clanranald Armorial Stone, which came from a religious settlement at Howmore, the most ancient church site in South Uist.
Nearby the museum is the old farm at Milton, birthplace of the South Uist heroine Flora MacDonald who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape ‘over the sea to Skye’ in 1746.
The craft shop is run by Uist Craft Producers, and offers a great range of traditional and contemporary arts and crafts including knitting, jewellery, ceramics and paintings.
All areas of the museum, café and shop are wheelchair accessible. There is also a wheelchair accessible toilet.
