    Leathad Ard is a beautiful Hebridean garden located on the Isle of Lewis.

    Explore this sloping garden with stunning views over East Loch Roag. It has evolved along with the shelter hedges that divide the garden into a number of areas. With shelter and raised beds, the different conditions created permit a wide variety of plants to be grown.Beds include herbaceous borders, cutting borders, bog gardens, grass garden, exposed beds, patio and vegetable and fruit patches, some of which are grown to show. A full tour takes about two hours.

    Leathad Ard is open under Scotland’s Gardens, Scotland’s national charity garden scheme. You can visit from Saturday 1 June to Saturday 31 August between 1.45pm - 6pm every day except Fridays, Sundays and Wednesday 7 August.

    Visits by prior arrangement are available from Monday 1 April to Monday 30 September except Sundays.

    Road Directions

    Take A858 from Shawbost to Carloway. First right after entering village (opposite football pitch).  First house on right.  The Westside circular bus from Stornoway will drop you at the road end.  (Ask for the Carloway football pitch).
