Lerwick Harbour

Lerwick harbour is a modern port, with versatile facilities serving a wide range of users.

At the crossroads of the North Sea and the North-east Atlantic, Lerwick Harbour is Britain's most northerly commercial port and a great base for touring around the Shetland Isles or as a springboard for vessels sailing to Scandinavia.

Since the 1960s, almost £50 million has been invested in the redevelopment of the port which handles around 5,500 vessels annually.

Lerwick Harbour's first class facilities include deep-water berthing, 3,200 m of quays, competitive support services, repair and maintenance of ships and equipment with slipway and waste disposal including an incinerator.

Visiting yachts are berthed in the town centre at Lerwick.

Facilities also include modern pontoons with power and water supply, fuel available at a dedicated berth, chandlery, electronics and sail repair, and shower and laundry facilities at the nearby Lerwick Boating Club.

The town centre’s shops, post office, banks, restaurants and bars are all close by, along with visitor information, car hire and excursions.
