    Lochgreen is the best of the trio of Troon municipal courses, which offer a more economical excellent golfing experience.

    The three municipal courses of Lochgreen, Darley and Fullarton play alongside Royal Troon, Portland and Barassie to form a group of six courses that totally surround the famous golfing town of Troon,

    Lochgreen is the longer course, a Par 74 running parallel at points to Royal Troon and used for several years as a qualifier for the Open. Although Lochgreen is predominately a links type course, holes of a more parkland type are in the "dovecot section".

    Golf Pass. 3 rounds for only £55.50 or 2 rounds over Lochgreen and Fullarton for only £35.00.

    Junior Open Competition, the Tom Lehman is played over all 3 Troon courses on the 1st Tuesday in August annually.

    Nearby attractions. Non-golfers can enjoy miles of sandy beaches, interspersed with parts of rocky outcrops.

    With spectacular views and sunsets, the Firth of Clyde, the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig (a bird sanctuary) enjoy mild weather due to the West Coast Gulf Stream. Turnberry, Burns Cottage and Tam O'Shanter Experience, Culzean Castle, Dundonald Castle, Royal Troon Golf Course, Old Prestwick Golf Course, Ayr Racecourse, Ayr Low Green, Craigie Estate and Rozelle Estate are all in close proximity. The Carrick Hills or Galloway Forrest offers hiking or biking opportunities for outdoors experiences.

    Opening Exceptions: Christmas Day & New Years day.

    No minimum age but play is restricted to after 12.30pm on Saturdays and after 3.30pm on Sundays, no restrictions Monday to Friday.Juniors are welcome to play Lochgreen but require to have a handicap of 18 or less, and handicap certificates must be shown to the starter if requested.

    Getting there by railway:- There are railway stations at Troon, Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, Prestwick Town Centre and Ayr Town Centre, Troon Station is located across the road from the clubhouse.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- 4 miles or 10 minutes by car from Glasgow Prestwick International Airport. On the A79, head North go straight through the roundabout ahead, stay in the left lane and take the slip road to Troon, the B749. Over the Railway Bridge and turn right into Fullarton Drive, follow the road to the end, where it becomes Golf Crescent, the Clubhouse is on the right after a further few hundred yards.

    Getting there by ferry:- From Stranraer take the A77 north past Girvan then take the scenic A719 route north. Take the A79 from Ayr past Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, turning left onto the B749 to Troon. Continue until you've gone over the Railway Bridge and turn right into Fullarton Drive, follow the road to the end, where it becomes Golf Crescent, the Clubhouse is on the right after a further few hundred yards. Superfast Ferries operate a daily service between Rosyth and Zeebrugge, Belgium. Head southwest via the A90, then M8, and M77 then the A77 south to Troon.
