Malleny Gardens

Parks & Gardens

Balerno, Edinburgh, City Of Edinburgh, EH14 7AF

This 1.2-ha (3-a) walled garden has a delightful collection of old-fashioned roses and fine herbaceous borders.

A particular feature of the garden is the four 400-year-old clipped yew trees, but there is also extensive woodland for a peaceful stroll surrounded by wildlife.

The house was built for Sir James Murray of Kilbaberton around 1635. Its two Georgian reception rooms, added in 1823, are opened by the Friends of Malleny on occasion during the summer.
