A small studio gallery in the Outer Hebrides displaying pastels, paintings, photographs and handmade paper crafts by artists Elsie Mitchell and Derek Scanlan.
Mangurstadh Gallery in Uig, Isle of Lewis, exhibits pastel and oil paintings by Derek Scanlan, together with photography and handmade paper crafts made from plants grown on the croft by Elsie Mitchell. Both artists take inspiration from the crofting township and beautiful coastal landscape which surround the studio gallery. Derek’s expressive pastel drawings and oil paintings capture the light and changing weather. Elsie explores the biodiversity of flora and fauna and the agricultural practices, both ancient and contemporary that have shaped and formed the landscape.
