Newtonmore Riding Centre provides Highland Pony riding lessons, trekking and horse riding holidays for all ages in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park.
Come to the Scottish Highlands to the village of Newtonmore for a riding holiday with a difference. As the oldest breeder of Highland Ponies in Scotland and the originators of pony trekking holidays, Newtonmore Riding Centre is steeped in horse history. The Ormiston Highland’s Breeding Stud has been in existence for over 150 years in Badenoch and Newtonmore Riding Centre have been running riding holidays in Newtonmore since 1952, so they really know how to make you most welcome.
At the centre there is a Highland Pony Heritage Display dedicated to the family’s involvement with the breed and the history of the riding centre. In addition to lots of old photographs, books and pictures the centre has all sorts of Highland Pony items of interest in including Working Harness, Deer Saddles, Grouse Panniers, Army Riding and Pack Saddles as used by the Lovat Scouts, a Highland Pony Farm Tip Cart, a lype or sledge and various gigs and traps.
Children are welcome at our centre from any age and Shetland Pony rides are available for the younger clients. There is also a weekly Saddle Club for children on Saturdays and Sundays. Newtonmore Riding Centre has provided ponies for various movies and television shows, including Rob Roy, Highlander, Missionary and Monarch of the Glen.
