Orkney Crafts Association represents and promotes the interests of professional producers of exclusive, high quality crafts throughout Orkney.
The Orkney Craft Association brings together traditional and contemporary professional craft makers in the region to promote, support and develop high quality design-led craft work.
Founded in 1991, the Association is run by its members each of whom produce quality crafts: from artwork to jewellery, ceramics to furniture - all designed and made here in the county. Many have studied their art or craft to a high level and several have over twenty years experience of working and exhibiting their pieces within the art and craft sector.
Back in 1995 the Craft Association created the Orkney Craft Trail. Following the Trail leads visitors to craft workshops where they have the chance to talk directly to makers and find out how their products are made. It is also a great opportunity to discuss commissioning bespoke work.
There are many ways that you can see our members work. Visit our website where you can see a showcase of each member. Download the latest Craft Trail brochure or pick up a copy at main tourist points when you visit the islands and visit the workshops and see where the pieces are made. You can also visit our Summer shop in Albert Street, Kirkwall (opposite Hourston's jewellers) which has a beautiful range of goods all hand crafted on the islands by our members.
We hope you enjoy browsing our website and don’t forget that many members have on-line shops on their own websites where you can purchase that special handmade gift. Visit our members page to find out more about each craft worker.
