Recreate provide pottery courses, craft courses and retreats, alongside our bed and breakfast and self catering accommodation.
Recreate is based in a lovely old Victorian house overlooking the Clyde, providing pottery, craft workshops, retreats and other activities. We do this alongside our bed and breakfast and our holiday cottage (both also available for bookings.)
We run a range of pottery courses, from taster sessions through to beginner’s courses. More experienced potters may also be interested in hiring the pottery space and/or kilns. Pottery courses are planned around Wednesday evenings, 7.30-9.00 as follows;
Pottery for beginners course- £80: 4 weeks to learn basics of handbuilding, throwing a pot on the wheel, then firing and glazing your own work.
SPRING- March 6, 13, 20, 27
AUTUMN- September 4, 11, 18, 25.
Taster sessions- £20: One evening to get the flavour of working with clay;
April 17, 24
July 10, 17
August 21, 28
Go-to-pot Wednesdays- £160: 8 weeks to learn more about pottery and try out your own projects. Great for those who have already undertaken one of our other courses and want to go further.
SUMMER- May 1, 8, 15, 22, 28. June 5, 12, 19.
AUTUMN- October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30. November 6, 13, 20.
However, our real strength is our ability to tailor courses around your needs- if you are interested in getting away to learn some pottery skills please get in touch and we will do out best to meet your needs!
We also provide a range of craft courses- including felting, crochet, jewellery, journal making, knitting, making wind chimes- and much more! Wherever possible we aim to recycle, reuse and mend, and we love to encourage one another in the rediscovery of traditional skills.
Our full schedule of courses is available on our website.
Our planned courses happen every last Thursday of the month, at 7PM. However, as with our pottery courses, if your family or a group of friends are interested in learning a particular skill then we would love to talk to you about meeting your needs.
As well as the deep satisfaction of making things with our hands, Recreate also offer retreats for the soul. We have a Christian ethos, and have learnt much from contemplative spirituality- in particular the importance of setting time aside to journey inwards.
We offer quiet weekends, here at Sgath an Tighe, aimed at individuals, or at families (yes, it is possible!)
We also offer wilderness retreats. These involve wild camping in wonderful wilderness locations- tiny uninhabited islands, forest or lochsides. We plan, organise, charter boats, and lead. The trips combine much that is special about our location- the scenery, the rich Christian heritage of many of the locations and the physical/spiritual challenge of making a temporary community in wilderness.
We look forward to meeting, sharing and creating with you!
