Sail Orkney operates from its base at Kirkwall Marina, offering bareboat and skippered charters.
Sail Orkney offers the opportunity to explore and discover a whole new world of cruising with bareboat charters, skippered charters and one-way passages. Get expert help and advice on cruising the islands.
Special requests can be arranged, including one-way charters (between Shetland and Orkney for example), on-board weddings, weekend hires and other possibilities.
On payment of a booking deposit you will be supplied with the Cruising Guide to Orkney and other information on the area to start planning your holiday exploring the islands. There will be no hidden costs as berthing fees at piers, harbours, marinas and visitor mooring buoys in Orkney are included in the cost of your charter.
Equipment provided: You will find most electronic equipment on board including chart plotter, DSC VHF radio, sounder, log and wind instruments. Some boats are equipped with radar, and all have CD players. The boats are fully safety coded and carry auto-inflate life jackets, harnesses and safety lines. An inflatable dinghy/tender is supplied as standard. Towels are provided as standard and sleeping bags can be hired. There are also good quality breathable Oilskins for hire at very reasonable rates.
Travel directions: Flights from all major UK airports connect with Kirkwall airport, in Orkney (BA and Loganair) good prices with early booking. Ferries depart from Scrabster, Gills Bay and Aberdeen (North Link & Pentland Ferries). The company can collect from ferry terminal or airport.
Facilities at base: Showers and toilets. Pubs and shops are within walking distance. Supermarkets are very competitively priced meaning you can leave the shopping until you arrive.
Charter fleet:
1). Moody 346: Norlantic is an extremely comfortable six berth centre cockpit cruiser and a proven offshore passage maker. Roller reefing and slab-reefed main are standard rig for cruising this area, combined with a powerful cruising chute you should have endless combination for cruising most conditions.
2). Elan 36: Endeavour offers quality cruising with eight berths in four cabins. She is a fast and easily handled cruiser and most importantly well suited to the cruising area. Endeavour, like her namesake can look after herself when the conditions are tough, she is very comfortable and will please the most discerning adventurer.
3). Moody 35: Valhalla is a capable centre-cockpit, six berth cruiser with the Moody reputation of quality, good sea-keeping and first class accommodation. Together with a fully battened mainsail, furling genoa and lines led aft this yacht is a safe and easily handled cruiser.
4). Seamaster 925: Nereides is a comfortable 30 ft, four berth traditional style cruiser, well suited to the waters of Orkney. She was originally classed as a performance family cruiser.
