Scotlands People Centre for family history and records of famous Scots
Have you ever wondered about your Scottish ancestors? What they did and how they lived? The Scotland's People Centre can help you find the answers to these questions.
The Scotland's People Centre provides easy access to Scottish Family History records such as birth, marriage and death records, wills, census records and coats of arms. Searching is quick and easy using modern computer technology to bring the records to you in an instant at over 150 search places. Staff are in hand to provide help and guidance and there is no need to search through dusty books for hours on end! Find Royalty, famous people and ordinary folk. All in the splendour of General Register House and New Register House.
For new visitors to the Centre, we have a limited number of free introductory taster sessions weekdays from 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:00.
Search rooms are open weekdays from 09:00 to 16:30 and a place costs £15 for full or part day.
Take time out from your family history research to visit our cafe, and shop for gift ideas, books and other mementos.
