This driving route boasts some of the most magnificent scenery in Europe - wild mountains and lochs, foaming salmon rivers, rugged coastlines with mighty sea cliffs and secluded sandy bays.
Despite it's relatively moderate distance of 33 miles this is quite a tough route since it's almost constantly hilly. However, the scenery is amongst the most dramatic in Scotland which certainly helps make up for the amount of effort required.
Wester Ross area
Mostly a gentle climb into wonderful scenery
This is certainly the most hilly road in Scotland
Back to the main route again - extremely hilly!
The area of Coigach, north west of Ullapool is best known for its walking but this short (9 mile) cycle route is as good as any of the walks with great coastal and mountain views.
A classic 90 mile circuit crossing the famous Bealach na Ba to Applecross where the wonderful views and sense of achievement compensate for the effort required.
This section is a diversion from the main route, beautiful beaches and wonderful views.
