Bike Tours

22 Shandon St, Edinburgh, Lothians, EH11 1QH

Journey by bicycle through lore and landscape with a storyteller as your guide. Through stories, travel to the heart and history of the city and the landscape. Walking tours in Edinburgh can also be arranged.

Edinburgh tours by bicycle. We take around 3.5 hours seeing parts of the Old and New Town, or arrange your own tour to meet your needs.
Other possibilities include a ride out to the seaside at Portobello or Cramond, exploring Edinburgh's waterways, or a tour of Edinburgh's Hills. It's best to allow a day for the Hills tour. Other tours can include stops for coffee or a drink, and lunch.
Whatever the tour, we'll make several stops for stories and bits of history.

Longer tours are also available, with 5 days cycling and a story or two along the way, sometimes at a castle or other historic site, and another in the evening, with opportunities to try some telling yourself, or just to sit back and listen, and make new friends.
Riding about 25 miles a day at a fairly gentle pace, this is the ideal way to see a corner of Scotland.

Storybikes is a unique tour operator, providing storytelling cycle tours. During 2014, longer tours will explore The Scottish Borders and Perthshire, making use of quieter tracks and roads.
Whether in rural villages, coastal towns and harbours, historic buildings or the natural environment, the scene is set for stories of Saints and Sinners, Ghosts and Wizards, Kings and Queens, and Clashes of the Clans.
The pace at which the group cycles will be adjusted to accommodate everyone's needs, and individual wishes - to take photographs, sketch, swim - will be taken into account. Those who want to cycle greater distances will be given meeting up points. The main aims, however, are to go at a pace which allows us to see and enjoy the land and the city, to appreciate it at a little more depth, and to enjoy ourselves.
In the evenings participants are welcome to contribute stories, songs, music or poems or just to listen.
Your guide, Andy Hunter, is a seasoned cycle tourist and member of The Scottish Storytelling Network.
Participants can bring their own cycles, or hired bikes (including electrically assisted cycles) will be arranged. On one week tours your luggage is transported for you.
