Cycle Routes
A traffic free route up one of the most scenic glens in the area.
Strathfarrar is a rival to neighbouring Glen Affric for scenery but when it comes to cycling its virtually traffic free road makes it the better of the two. To reach the start turn of the A831 immediately north of the bridge at Struy. Less than a mile up this road is a car park just before the gate that restricts vehicle access to the estate road up the glen. Access is however always available to walkers and cyclists by a pedestrian gate to the side of the main gate.
From the gate the road runs for 14 miles to the end of Loch Monar, initially through the more wooded lower part of the glen, alongside Loch Beannacharainn then through more rugged country as the bigger hills further up the glen are reached. The road however undulates fairly gently with no significant climbs until a short sharp hill at the very end making this a fairly straightforward route. The lower part of the glen is particularly suited to rides with children and it's easy to turn back at any point making routes of any length an option.
