Torrisdale, Campbeltown, Argyll, PA28 6QT

Torrisdale Tannery specialises in the production of naturally coloured sheepskins and deer skins by employing ancient tanning methods that produce skins of the highest quality.

Located in the former laundry building on the Torrisdale Castle Estate, the Torrisdale Tannery offers naturally coloured sheepskins and deer skins of the highest quality that are created using an ancient tanning methods.

These odour-free tanning methods use only organic materials, tree bark, salt and water, abandoned elsewhere in favour of modern chemical and machine methods that satisfy the demand for speed and quantity in the tanning process.

As all tanning is done by hand, Torrisdaleā€™s rugs take longer to prepare but are believed to be unique to Scotland. The skins are available in a wide range of natural colours, with the length and type of wool varying according to the breed and age of sheep. They are also absent of clipped out wools or bleached whites.

All the rugs are fully washable and frequent cleaning is advised to ensure they keep their pristine condition. Beautiful baby rugs and cat mats in all shapes and sizes are also available.
