    Nestled on the North Ayrshire coastline overlooking Arran, West Kilbride is Scotland’s first accredited Craft Town.  Known as “The Village’, West Kilbride might be a small town but it offers a great range of independent retailers and designer shops which complement its major cultural attractions, The Barony Centre and Craft Studios.

    The Barony Centre is a stunning conversion of an old church and winner of several architectural awards. 

    • Showcasing a diverse selection of craft based exhibitions, including national touring shows, throughout the year
    • Providing opportunities to buy high quality original, contemporary and heritage craft from our gallery shop
    • Developing a programme of complementary workshops, talks and events

    The Barony Cafe is an ideal place to rest and re-charge energy levels.  Based in a stylish contemporary extension to the main building, it serves great coffee and food freshly made in-house using seasonal Ayrshire produce and suppliers whenever possible. Telephone: 01294 823822

    Next stop on the craft trail dotted along the town's main street is to each of our 8 craft studios which have a workshop area where work is made on the premises, with the added bonus of a display area where you can buy work directly from the person who made it.  Many arrange craft workshops for members of the public, with specially designed projects for new enthusiasts and experienced hands.

    Public Transport Directions

    Getting there by railway:- Glasgow Central Station, First Scotrail Route 18 : Glasgow - Ardrossan/Largs. Take the main exit from West Kilbride Station which will lead you to the station garden and car park. Follow the left-hand path onto Cubrieshaw Street, cross over and follow Burnside Place which leads directly onto Main Street. Directions to all facilities can be obtained from W.K. Initiative Shop midway down Main Street.


    Getting there by aeroplane:- Leave the M8 at junction 28A, just after Glasgow Airport. The slip road takes you onto the A737 signed for Irvine. Continue through Beith and into Dalry.

    Getting there by ferry:- Ardrossan Harbour, Caledonian Macbrayne : Ardrossan -
    Brodick(Arran) - Ardrossan
    Exit ferry terminal and follow Harbour Street leading directly to Glasgow Street. At the top of Glasgow Street turn left at traffic lights and head north along A78 Largs. West Kilbride is signposted to left. Follow directions to Town Centre which will lead to Main Street. Directions to all facilities can be obtained from W.K. Initiative Shop, 86 Main Street.
