A very pleasant 9 hole course set in lush parkland just half a mile from Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town.
This 9 hole parkland course is a good test of golf for players of all abilities and it’s a haven for those seeking relaxing golf and a friendly atmosphere, with magnificent views of Wigtown Bay and across the Solway Firth to the Lake District hills.
During the week it is relatively easy to get on to the course as visitors tee times are not restricted, although booking is advisable in the summer and at weekends. Golfing parties are welcome but must be booked in advance.
The 3rd is considered the signature hole here. Only the pin is visible from the tee and out of bounds lurks to your left. The fairway slopes from the left to the right, with rough and trees on the right, leading the way to a sloping green.
Accessible golf also awaits at Newton Stewart, or if you’re a beginner try the par 3 course Portpatrick, or, if you’re travelling west, the par 3 at Brighouse Bay or Tongland Family Golf Centre.
