Will you manage to stay on your feet in the Vortex Tunnel? Can you shrink yourself like Alice in Wonderland in the amazing Ames Room? Spot how hot you are on the heat cam, swap heads and noses, turn yourself into a monkey, a baby or even change sex in the Morphing Machine! You can also spy on the city through the powerful telescopes and viewcams.  

From inside this marvellous Victorian rooftop chamber, watch moving images of Edinburgh projected onto a viewing table through a giant periscope. Pick people up on your hands, squash them to a pulp and even make the traffic climb over paper bridges!

Don't miss the breathtaking views of Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. Look over the Capital's Old and New Towns as well as Edinburgh Castle. Powerful telescopes allow you to see the city close up or see far into the distance, and of course you'll see it as you’ve never seen it before.

• Open every day except 25th December
   

July & August: Mon-Sun 09.30 – 21.00
Sept & Oct: Mon-Sun 09.30 – 19.00
Nov - March: Mon-Sun 10.00 – 18.00
April –June: Mon-Sun 09.30 – 19.00

• Later opening during public and school holidays.
• Upper floors are not accessible to wheelchairs.  Buggies may be left at reception.
• March-September: Last Camera Obscura show begins 1 hour before closing time.
• October-February: Last Camera Obscura show varies dependent on available daylight.
   

Ticket Terms & Conditions

• If you purchase your ticket online after 4pm Friday until 9am Monday, you will not receive your e-confirmation until Monday. You are unable to use your ticket/pass without this confirmation.
• Tickets are non-refundable.
• Last entry is 1 hour before closing time
• Recommend you allow 2 hours for the visit
