Some of the most exciting geology in Britain is to be found in the Scottish Highlands. Explore spectacular gorges and valleys, dramatic coastal erosion and the fascinating Moine Thrust Zone. This is the land of the Highland Clearances and the Highland Gold Rush, of ospreys, eagles, deer and dolphins.

Join us on a journey through the delights and secrets of the beautiful Scottish countryside.

For those who would like to include other attractions such as local castles, gardens, distilleries etc, please ask as it may well be possible to include these sites too.

Tarbatness half day tour. The rocks of Tarbat Ness tell of a history with very different conditions from today. A history of an ancient land with hot desert sands and very little rain. Extend the tour with a visit to Glenmorangie Distillery and taste our national drink.

Loch Fleet half day tour. See how the last Ice Age sculpted our landscape and created the scenery you see today. Stop at the Orcadian Stone Company's first class geological exhibition and see the best range of crystals, rocks and fossils in the North of Scotland.

Loch Ness half day tour. This is the area where a geological fault almost split Scotland in half. Nowadays the fault line is filled with lochs, of which Loch Ness is the most famous.

Cromarty Firth half day tour. Explore the picturesque fishing village of Cromarty and visit the home of Cromarty's famous geologist, Hugh Miller. This is one of the few places where you are allowed to handle the exhibits. There are stones and fossils for you to examine and magnifying lenses are provided.

Rogie Falls half day tour. Witness the power of the glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age. Enjoy an easy woodland walk and see if you are lucky enough to see the Atlantic Salmon leaping up the falls as they return to their breeding grounds after a 3 year absence. Visit the Victorian Spa village of Strathpeffer en route. Once you were able to drink sulphurous waters, nowadays the chocolate shop is more popular.

Applecross full day tour. Applecross is surely one of the prettiest villages in Scotland, situated on the shores of the west coast. Our route traverses the highest mountain pass in the UK and the landscape here is stunning with views to Lochs Kishorn and Carron in the east and to the islands of Raasay and Skye in the west.

Full day tour to Ullapool. Travel to Knockan Crags near Ullapool and see where an immensely complicated geological puzzle was solved. After a stop in Ullapool for lunch, there is a chance to marvel at the depths of the Corrieshalloch Gorge as we travel back to base.

Two day trip to Orkney. Travel to the magical Orkney Islands and see cliffs and sea stacks, gloups and geos, and combine it all with a few of the Neolithic Heritage sites that Orkney is so famous for.
