You want to see Orkney but don’t want to be lost in a crowd of other tourists: then a personal tour is just what you’re looking for

Your tour is private so it’s your itinerary, your guide and your time to choose what you want to see.  You won’t have to go places you are not interested in or go with other people’s choices, it’s all yours.

Hello I’m Jean Ross your personal tour guide, I’ve lived in Orkney all my life and have almost 50 years’ experience of the beautiful islands. I have had experience working as a tour guide for various local visitor attractions and qualified as an accredited Orkney Tourist Guide to Scottish Tourist Guide Association standards in 2008. I now offer personal guided tours all over Orkney.
There is so much to see in Orkney only a personalised tour covering the areas and subjects that match your personal interest will ensure that you see everything.
We have almost 70 islands altogether lying 6 miles off the North Coast of Scotland with some of the best preserved archaeology in Northern Europe and even in the world.  Our history spans almost 9,000 years from just after the ice melted and carved our beautiful and fertile land.
My tours are tailored to suit your interests and requirements: Archaeology, heritage and folklore tours along with general wildlife walks focusing on the islands birdlife, mammals, wildflowers and geology.
A tour can be organised to suit the varied ages and abilities within a single group, from children to grandparents.  For example, rockpooling for weird and wonderful creatures along Birsay Beach might accompany a visit to the Brough of Birsay’s Pictish and Viking archaeological sites.  All whilst looking out for Puffins and other seabirds on the cliffs!
If you have mobility difficulties let me know in advance and I will arrange a tour with that in mind.
I can accommodate any number in your tour group, if you are a group of up to four we can go in my vehicle which has spacious seating and large windows to enjoy the view.  For a larger group just email with the details and I will make all the arrangements for your trip.
Making sure that you get the most from your time available is my goal.
