Island Trails - Shetland

Island Trails offer a variety of tours where you can explore Shetland’s beautiful scenery, unique history, wildlife and culture. Focusing on small groups where tours can be arranged to suit customers' individual needs.

Led by local tour guide and crofter James Tait, Island Trails provide guided tours and walks for small groups tailored to customers’ individual requirements, helping you to experience the mystery and beauty of Shetland.  

Tours include exploring St Ninian’s Isle & its shell sand tombolo (causeway), spotting seabirds, a historial tour of the South Mainland,  a tour to the rugged North of the Islands where the geology was shaped by Sheland's prehistoric volcanic past or discovering Shetland's important role in the second world war with the "Shetland Bus". James' family has lived in the South Mainland of Shetland for generations and he enjoys weaving stories from his family history and local anecdotes into his tours.  This knowledge and his interests in history, culture and wildlife mean that James is well placed to give you the real local perspective on all his tours and walks.
