St Kilda offers a unique and fascinating insight into the natural environment and the turbulent past of the Islands of the Outer Hebrides.
The archipelago of St.Kilda is owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland and is one of only 28 locations in the world to be awarded the dual status for natural and cultural heritage by UNESCO.
It has some of the highest cliffs in Europe, which have large colonies of rare and endangered species of birds, especially puffins and the largest colony of gannets in the world.
From mid April to mid September Sea Harris run scheduled trips to St Kilda and to the Shiant Islands. Shiant trips depart from Tarbert, North Harris, and the St.Kilda trips depart from Leverburgh, South Harris. All other islands can be visited by private charter.
