Aberlour

Overview

Aberlour (or 'Charlestown of Aberlour' to give it its proper name) is in the heart of whisky country, north-west of Dufftown.

It has its own distillery, though is more famous for its shortbread, originally made by Joseph Walker at the turn of the century, and now known around the world. Attractions include Ballindalloch Castle and the perfectly preserved Village Store of yesteryear.

The small town of Rothes is a few miles to the north on the River Spey.
