Aberlour is set in spectacular scenery in the heart of 'whisky country' on the River Spey.
Recognised as ‘Charlestown on Aberlour’, the town is situated between Inverness and Aberdeen and is surrounded by the Cairngorm Mountains on one side and the Moray Firth coastline on the other.
The town is famous for the shortbread and whisky industries. Shortbread was originally made here by Joseph Walker at the turn of the century and the family traditions continue making Walkers shortbread well-known around the world. Aberlour Distillery produces single malt Scotch whisky and offers two unique and innovative tours. In addition, within a short proximity of around 15 miles, there are many more whisky distilleries to explore including Cardhu, Balvenie or Glenfiddich.
