Towns & Villages

This village is an agricultural centre lying between Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath in south west Fife.

Auchtertool’s name is said to have come from the Gaelic “the high grounds on the River Tiel” and today you can find parts of the old brewery buildings around the village, as well as a historical parish church which welcomes visitors to its Sunday service.

One of Auchtertool’s most popular attractions is Puddledub Buffalo at Clentrie Farm, Scotland’s largest water buffalo herd. In addition to buffalo, the farm is home to Aberdeen Angus cattle and a flock of Jacob sheep.

Take the farm tour and meet the friendly buffalo whilst enjoying amazing views of the surrounding countryside. Camilla Loch is a great place for spotting wildlife, and has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
