Aviemore is an excellent base for exploring the wilderness of the Cairgorms National Park, covering the mountains, Glenmore, Rothiemurcus Forest and much more. Get a taste of the big country at Craigellachie - wooded crags which overlooks the town with a boardwalk to help you reach the heights. In summer keep an eye out for the peregrine falcons nesting on the crags.

In and around Aviemore, you'll find by far the largest range of accommodation for miles around, from big international hotels to welcoming B&Bs, from comfortable cottages to self-catering chalets. There are some options for staying at nearby Coylumbridge, at the start of the epic 'ski road' up to the Cairngorms.
