A small market town in an excellent location with great amenities and historic links to Thomas the Rhymer.
This small market town in Lauderdale is well known as being home to the 13th century seer Thomas Learmont of Ercildounce (now Earlston), more popularly known as ‘Thomas the Rhymer’. In the graveyard of Earlston Kirk stands a stone which reads “Auld Rymer's race, lyes in this place”.
Just east of the Leader Water and close to many other Borders towns, Earlston is a bustling village with great local amenities and public transport links.
The town is centred around a pretty village green and has great views of the surrounding country side, including the Eildon Hills.
