Eppie Callum’s Oak is an ancient oak tree in Crieff which is said to have once sheltered notorious outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor from his enemies.
This historic oak takes its name from the woman who once ran the Oakbank Inn - a former favourite with Highland cattle drovers. Although now situated in a private garden, it can clearly be seen as part of the gentle Lady Mary's Walk of 3.5 miles or the slightly more challenging Laggan Hill Walk of approximately four miles.
As well as giving shelter to Rob Roy MacGregor, the 70 ft oak tree is also said to have aided Jacobite leader Bonnie Prince Charlie, who is alleged to have hidden inside the trunk.
Car parking is available in the nearby Taylor Park, from where visitors can walk to see the tree.
