Situated at the far western end of the Ross of Mull, Fionnphort is the centre village of a fairly scattered community on the west coast of Scotland.
The area is ideal for walking. It offers many varied well sign-posted routes from beach to hill trails and shows the best viewing points. The beach has a distinctive split granite boulder in the centre classed as an erratic and deposited here by an ice age glacier. Wildlife, fauna and flora is also abundant and easy to observe in this area.
The town serves as a busy ferry port for Iona and Staffa and it is also home to a museum about Saint Columba.
